The great Roman Empire failed, at democracy,
an emperor’s steel fist, ruled the Med Sea.
America chose to embark, on a similar course,
George Washington, a top his white stallion horse.
Lincoln often hated, during our great Civil War,
only his kindness and honesty, are part of folklore.
FD Roosevelt, guided us, out of depression and strife,
four terms later, the pressure appeared to take his life.
The sixties was a boiling point, Vietnam and Civil Rights,
late eighties ended with, a thousand points, lights.
Disaster fell upon us, when the Twin Towers fell,
since that day, our nation has inched towards Hell.
The virus, civil strife, hate and violence abound,
neither The Donald or Sleepy Joe offer rebound.
A leader only effective, with positive motivate,
but the 2020 Campaign, is full of mutual hate.
